September Presbytery Meeting Highlights

  • 14329955_10210693470675857_5115288201762754496_nNew pastors were introduced and welcomed to the Presbytery: Sarah Cairatti (Whippany), Kathleen Stone (Wharton United) and Scott Foster (Madison).  New Stated Clerk Jeremy Campbell was also introduced.
  • Rev. Dr. Pamela Szurek was approved to become the installed pastor at United Presbyterian Church in Belvidere, a church she has served for 3 1/2 years as Stated Supply.  The installation service is scheduled for October 23rd.
  • Rev. David Smazik led the Presbytery through a process of “Visioning God’s Preferred Future” in which presbyters were invited to imagine ways God might be inviting them to get “unstuck” in their ministry contexts. Check out this video.
  • The Commissioners to the 222nd General Assembly, which met this summer in Portland, Oregon, presented a video about their experience and led the Presbytery in worship.
  • The Summit on Race presented a video on RACE: The Power Of An Illusion – The House We Live In and engaged the Presbytery in discussions of their own experiences around tables.
  • The Presbytery Coordinating Team presented the 2017 budget and Proposed Revised ByLaws for 1st reading, answering questions and receiving feedback. The 2017 Per Capita rate was set at $35.00 with no increase anticipated for 2018.  Undesignated mission allocation was adjusted to include the Synod of the Northeast which hadn’t been included in recent years.
  • The Nominating Team presented a report and presbyters were elected to Trustees, Committee on Ministry, and Synod Commissioners were elected.
  • The Trustees presented a report for information on the pending sale of the Hamburg property.
