DESCRIPTION

Dwelling in the World is a practice of living out the belief that God is active in the world all around us. This practice is patterned after the example of Jesus who brought to the disciples’ attention situations and events through which God’s work in the world could be multiplied such as Zacchaeus, the woman at the well, the Sadducees, Pharisees at a dinner party and others. Dwelling in the World is paying attention to where God has sent us in our communities and to the people there God intends for us to meet. It involves noticing the people around us, offering “peace” to them, observing on whom the peace rests (Luke 10: 1-12), and then intentionally building relationships with these people of peace.

Facilitator: The Rev. Amy Lawrence, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Sussex, New Jersey
