The news is a mixture of good and bad lately. We cling to the good news trying to overlook the sad and bad news. As people of faith we believe in and live a life of love, hope and kindness. Part of that life of love, hope and kindness we must abide in the places and spaces of pain and grief of others and ourselves. For in those places of grief and sadness we touch hope, we share love and we extend kindness.
Today let us pray for those who are grieving the death of a loved one, the loss of a job or the absence of those we love.
Gracious and Loving God,
You are our strength and our hope. Sadness and grief surround us each day of this pandemic. We grow weary of the uncertainty, hurt and sorrow. We know as people of faith we are called to abide, to walk along side the grief, sadness and confusion. But it is not an easy path forward.
Lead us on this path we must travel. You are our hope in the darkness. Heal the wounds of sorrow, renew our spirit with your light. Uphold us in our own time of pain, heartache and sorrow.
Help us to be with those who have lost a loved one. Show us ways that we can comfort them from afar. Guide us through these dark times for you are the light that shines out of the darkness.
We pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
