January Presbytery meeting is upon us.
Saturday, January 11 starting at 10 am at First Presbyterian Church of Sparta.
In the new year the themes of the Presbytery meetings will be focused on the Invitation to be a Matthew 25 church. Matthew 25: 31 -46 calls all to actively engage in the world around us, so that our faith comes alive and are engaged to the new opportunities for doing God’s work in our communities. Matthew 25 calls on all to act boldly and compassionately to serve people who are hungry, oppressed, imprisoned or poor. The Presbyterian Mission Agency calls all to embrace one or more of the following focuses: Building Congregational Vitality, Dismantling Structural Racism and Eradicating Systemic poverty.
For our first three presbytery meetings of the year we will be present one of the Matthew 25 focuses. In January we will focus on Dismantling Structural Racism. Rev. Larissa Kwong Abazia will be our presenter/facilitator with “Beyond Representation: inviting all to the Table”. Larissa will also be preaching during our time of worship.
The March 10 Presbytery Meeting will be focusing on Congregational Vitality with Rev. Cindy Kohlman, Co-Moderator of the General Assembly, will be presenting and preaching. The May Presbytery meeting will focus on Eradicating Systemic Poverty. More information about the upcoming themes will be available soon.
The January Presbytery Meeting packet is available. Please RSVP for lunch.
