As we approach the second Sunday of Advent let us remember those who find this season stressful and hurried as they prepare for holiday season or prepare for chemo treatments. Or as they prepare to welcome home ones who have been “away” for what ever reason.
A voice cries:
In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
God of salvation, you straighten the winding ways of our hearts and smooth the paths made rough by life and our inability to see you walking that path with us. Keep our hearts watchful to the holiness of the events and experiences of the season. Draw from us the kindness and goodness that give to us and call us to share. We ask through him whose coming is certain, who day draws near; your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
