Focused on Learning

The Presbytery of Newton is focused on continuing to be a vibrant faith community committed to caring, learning and partnership.

This fall we have several learning opportunities.

September 10 and 11 – Rev. Bob Armstrong will be with us to talk about the Missional Practices. On September 10  he will be the presenter and preacher at the Presbytery Meeting at the Parsippany Presbyterian Church.  On September 11 he will be meeting with Pastors at the Presbytery Office.

September 29 –  Session Clerk Training  from 2 -4 at the Presbytery Office. Stated Clerk Jeremy Campbell will be lead a workshop for new and returning clerks of session

October 5 – Covenant Communities Committed to Learning and Growth begins. This will be an ongoing series about the Missional Practices. Congregations are encouraged to be part of this 5 part series.  The first gathering is at First Presbyterian of Succasunna.

October 24 – Annual Boundary Training for Pastors and other Church leaders at Community Presbyterian Church of Chester.

November 2 – Financial Management Workshop – 9 am to 1 pm at First Presbyterian Church of Hackettstown. This year Presbyterian Foundation consultant Ellie Johns-Kelly and Board of Pensions, Synod of the Northeast Consultant, Rev. Carie Mitchell will be leading the workshop.  Pastors, treasurers, property teams, finance teams, trustees and others are encouraged to participate.

November 16 – The second in the Missional Practices series – Spiritual Discernment will be at First Presbyterian Church of Berkshire Valley.

Also in the planning stages for the fall is a Pastor’s Book group and other workshops that are of interest to church leaders. Watch the Presbytery website, Facebook page and newsletter for more information.
