March 12th Presbytery Meeting Highlights

  • Stories of Hope were shared including Undoing Racism, an initiative of the Morristown Church and Rendall Memorial Church in Harlem, and a great presentation on the denominations Self Development of People program, one of the missions supported by the One Great Hour of Sharing offering.
  • Presbyters worshiped together sharing in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper and heard a stirring sermon preached by Rev. Alonzo Johnson.
  • The members of Lower Valley Presbyterian Church provided a lovely fellowship time with delicious baked goods.
  • New Pastors including Rev. Brian Merritt, Covenant Pastor at Hackettstown, Rev. Dan Schroeder, Covenant Pastor at Kitchell, and Rev. Heather Morrison-Yaden, Covenant Pastor at Chatham.
  • An update on the New Jersey Missional Structures process including and introduction and first reading of their invitation to presbyteries.
  • The Presbytery received a report about the delegation from the Synod to Cuba from our representative Rev. Robin Currás.
  • The Presbytery elected Elder Ken Nickel-Moderator, and Rev. David Young-Vice Moderator for 2019-2020, to be installed in May.
