Belvidere’s Lord’s Auction

Lords auction aug 2016 EOn a lovely Saturday morning in late August, 40 plus people gathered in the park across from United Presbyterian Church for their 10th Annual Newton-News-logoLord’s Auction. The auction started 10 years ago with a suggestion from a deacon who had heard about Lord’s Auction traditions in other churches. The church leaders were looking for ways to raise the final bit of money needed to repair the church’s windows. Ann and Clara pulled together the first auction and the tradition of this church began.lords auction aug 2016 B
The auction proceeds now go to the many missions of the church, including Family Promise, Simple Quilts, and Swisher’s Trailer, which takes food and quilts to a church in West Virginia.
The auction items are all handmade or home preserved, pickled, or produce from gardens and farms. This year the United Presbyterian Church in Belvidere raised $3000 dollars. They are already planning for the 11th Annual Lord’s Auction in 2017.lords auction aug 2016 D lords auction aug 2016 C lords auction aug 2016 A
